  • Mesa Grill - NYC

I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day because I know I did! My fiance and I were lucky enough to get a reservation at Bobby Flay's restaurant Mesa Grill. We made reservations last Monday and the only time we could get was at 9:45 pm. It was really late, but we took it anyway.

They had a prix fix menu going on and it looked amazing. We arrived early and enjoyed a drink at the bar while waiting. I had a Tom Collins and Derek got a Gin and Tonic. The drinks were expensive, but delicious. We ended up scoring an awesome table and we were both starving by the time we sat down. Like I said, the menu looked awesome and there were so many good options. More Here...

  • Jay Chou's Restaurant : Mr. Qute

A few days ago I was introduced by a mutual well respected chef, who was teaching a class on the art of candy making that day. Towards, the end of the class, my eyes started to wonder, and I saw a man in a black cap with a jacket on. Strange, I thought, why would anyone be wearing a jacket in this classroom environment, and a cap covering most of his face. As if he didn't want to attract too much attention.

Then as I observed more, I noticed he had a chef jacket on beneath his outer jacket, and he was wearing clogs, which are shoes made specially for the kitchen floors.  Being a chef myself, I am always up for meeting other chefs, hence I am still fairy young and I'm always on the look out to learn and further my culinary knowledge. But clearly, I get the vibe that he didn't want to be noticed or bothered with.

Luckily, at the end of the class, the candy chef had asked me to stay behind because there was someone who she wanted me to meet and be acquainted with. It was that mysterious chef. Long story short, the mysterious chef's name was Peter and he is the head pastry/dessert chef of the restaurant called "Mr.Qute" which is aka Jay Chou's Restaurant.

  • Boba Tea Adventures in Las Vegas

I recently took a trip to Las Vegas. I was pleasantly surprised to find tons of boba tea places around every corner! While we were there my boyfriend's aunt (whom we stayed with) suggested that we go to a place in the "China Town" area of Las Vegas. According to her, they had the best boba tea.

I was quite excited to go and try out something different. Our local Boba tea here in Southwestern New Mexico was all that I had tried. Once at the little shop this charming old lady took our order and went in the back. Two things I noticed were 1. It was really cheap here. 2. There were TONS of flavors, they ranged from coconut, to avocado, to durian, to apple. So many flavors, so little stomach space!

  • The New Orleans Hand Grenade: It May Not Have You On The Ground

The body of a Hand Grenade, left for dead on a NOLA street, much like you would be if you imbibed its soul.

New Orleans is probably the most culturally defiant city in all of America. The accent of the area, the race/heritage of its people, the set-up of the city, its laws, its favorite hobbies, and its favorite foods are unlike any other in the surrounding regions.

It is one of few cities where outdoor drinking is legal, and both male and female (yes, male also...my memories of NOLA nudity are equal opportunity) flashing is encouraged.

Considering this, one could appropriately guess that New Orleans is a city that knows how to party.
