Dining out in Tokyo: L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon
I loveee Japanese long weekends... In Japan, we call the public holidays that fall on a Monday, "Happy Monday", and this name can't be more apt! On a recent Happy Monday that passed, we decided to celebrate this beautiful lazy long weekend with a yummy getaway at my favorite French restaurant in town. Did you know that Tokyo has more French restaurants with Michelin stars than French gourmet paradise Paris itself?! Of the lot, my heart goes to this Michelin two stars L'Atelier by the world famous chef Joel Robuchon.
There are endless reasons why I love this delightful foodie paradise nicely tucked away in chic Roppongi Hills. Heavenly gourmet experience aside, the ambience of this place sets every diner at complete ease. The bar dining concept frees up all the rigidness usually associated to fine dining. Every bit of the interior deco spells minimalistic chic and diners get a perfect view of all ongoing culinary action from their seats facing the open kitchen. Service is excellent and the waitors even sing birthday songs in French to the birthday babies in the restaurant!
And here's one last thing which I love about L'atelier de Joel Robuchon. It's awesome lunch menu! At 40USD per person, you get a full 3 course meal, coffee and free flow of fresh bread. The dinner price tag easily costs you 4-5 times that if you order wine. So if you are a foodie on a tight budget, save your food lust for their lunch menu instead! And be sure to make a reservation before going. We didn't and had to wait a full hour just to get two seats!
In short, out of 10 moka points, I'll give ..... *drums rolling*.....
- Food: 9 moka points
- Ambience: 9.5 moka points
- Service: 8.5 moka points
- Price: 10 moka points for lunch, 8.5 moka points for dinner (their wine list is certainly way overpriced!!)
- Overall: 9 moka points

My gleeful look after a hearty meal! The resto was about 20 minutes walk from home, so I had the perfect opportunity to burn off all the tasty newly acquired calories. ;) I was wearing a sample from MokaTrésors August collection here. Additional pieces of this item just arrived today, so I'll be adding it to the collection next week!
