For example, Five Guys is expected to open two hundred locations in 2011. In addition, I’ve seen the opening of four locations of Smashburgers in San Diego alone over the past year.

Not that I’m complaining. I love burgers.

Recently, a Smashburger location opened up in downtown San Diego. I was invited to a media sneak peek preview where guests got to sample anything on the menu prior to its grand opening, all complimentary.

Smashburger is your classic burger restaurant. The menu consists mainly of burgers, fries, and shakes, with a few other options thrown in the mix like hot dogs, salads, and chili.

More Here...

The Best Udon In Town!

According to Ed and Adrian, this is the BEST udon in town! As I prepared myself to face a mob of hipsters, she also told me to meet them in Greenpoint for dinner, to soak up as many calories before a night of drinking.

Karczma is right in the middle of downtown Greenpoint off the Greenpoint Avenue stop, famously known for being a predominantly Polish neighborhood. And with a name like Karczma, the Polish boyfriend, and Polish neighborhood, I put one, two and three together to deduce that I was probably going to a Polish restaurant, which I had never had before so I was very excited.

More Here...

15 Cool McDonald's Food From Around the World!

Recently, I have been reading articles that analyze the success of McDonald's globally as they find a nice approach to different communities by adjusting their menus and service style accordingly.

Looking at that one story where a Japanese boy, who came across a McDonald's in the States, exclaimed,"They have Japanese food here!", we can see how McDonald's is doing a pretty good job in terms of assimilating into different cultural communities.

I can't remember the last time I went to a McDonald's but next time I travel to another country, I am seriously going to march into their store and order whatever I have never seen before in the original American menus!

So below is a list of their products of "assimilation" from a variety of different countries!More Here...

Cakewalk in Manhattan Part 2: Upper West Side

This is a guest post from CakeSpy.

Not long ago, I heard about a group of artists who do the most wonderful thing to keep themselves inspired: they will navigate that city with a map of a different city. As you can imagine, such a lifestyle makes it hard for me to always be in the know and stay on top of trends. Luckily, I’m surrounded by many wonderful foodies who keep me abreast of the things to try.

One such example is the cult following of gourmet food trucks. There were many food trucks that I wanted to try but I simply didn’t have the time to chase them around all over town. I was overjoyed when a foodie friend invited me to Off the Grid. The photos below document our little food adventure at Fort Mason last year. Please excuse the poor quality of the photos. I was using one hand to take photos with my phone while holding food in the other.

More Here...
